I have been thinking a lot about the long tail--I think it will have a lot of implications as the overall available backlist grows.

The back list is more profitable I believe, in e-publishing. Of course, one would like to sit on top of the short tail in paper publication and THEN have a profitable ride as part of the long tail.

I think being prolific in either form of publication is the key to making a decent income out of writing--which reminds me I have to chain MY ass to the chair and get two sequels ground out over the next six months to a year.
