"New Services fom the Irish Writers Centre: The Irish Writers Centre is pleased to offer three new services to writers. The Manuscript Assessment and Appraisal for fiction and non-fiction pieces will send back an annotated copy of your manuscript along with a 10-15 page report. The How to Submit service is recommended for people who are ready to submit their work to an agent or publisher, and for those who want to ensure flow in writing and solid structure. In the Poetry Service the editors will provide a report with an overview of your poetry and an examination of the individual poems. For further information email [email protected]."

I'm not sure if this includes international writers but the Irish Writers' Centre is a well respected organisation (http://www.writerscentre.ie) over here and this sounds like a really great service, though it doesn't mention anything about fees, if any.

Just thought I'd post it in case there are any other Irish writers on here... I may have to try this out myself!

Home - but for how long?
I think...

Veinglory, that this is the govt funded, Irish writers assoc, like our own NZSA, and the writers have to go through a selection process and then the service is free.

I just emailed them to find out about the cost and set-up. I'll let you know what the story is when they get back to me. It is a government funded organisation that is meant to help develop new writers so we'll see...

I guess it could be fun -- assuming it's something approaching legit -- but I don't see the point. I just can't see it doing anything for my writing that me doing a lot of writing every day and then selling it won't already do.

If it is government funded, it will apply to Irish writers only but may include ex-Pats. I think it would be legit.

Well this interests me no end. Keep me posted. The poor people, if it's free. Word will go around and they'll be snowed under. Half the country is writing a book.
