Hi i am new here. I have a completed non-fiction memoir, m/s and now want to submit a book proposal to some agents.

My question is how do I write a bio when I have never published before, am not a pro speaker and do not go to conferences. My experience sounds very amaetur.

I have bought the Michael Larson book and his chapter on bio's only really refers to people that have written or are experts in their field.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have also looked up alot of examples on the net but all of them are of already pub writers.

With appreciation

Bios don't just refer to previously-published works. They serve as a thumbnail sketch of the person: Age (optional), marital status, children, educational and work background, hobbies or other interests. A bio won't make or break you with a pub or agent - it's still the ms and a killer query that counts the most. Everybody was published for the first time once.

Welcome to the Cooler. Do visit the Newbie forum and tell us a bit about yourself. (Consider it practice for writing that bio.) ;)
