USA. Many places.
"Creep" sounds like such a 50's word. What are some good contemporary words to use about a contemptible lowlife, words that a junior or senior high school student would actually use in ordinary lunchroom conversation? (This is for a novel, not a PTA meeting I'm planning to attend any time soon.)

Cretan, loser . . . Kevin Federline. :)

Actually, you could probably go read some teen MySpace blogs and get all the synonyms you need.

Asshat is a favorite of mine.

Asshat has got to be one of my favorite words in the English language. You'd think I would have more occasions to use it.

It also brings to mind terms of endearment such as tool, wanker, and the aforementioned douchebag...

Douchebag

If you're writing something that takes place in the US, this is currently The One (at least, where I live), closely followed by the very utilitarian fuck stick and jack-off.

Cock-knocker and ass-hat are also nice. They're a little more obscure, but oh-so stylish, generally used by the counter-culture-kid responsible for setting trends.

My significant other has recently been on a crusade to popularize douche nozzle, as it is the business end, but I don't think that turn of phrase is necessarily going to take :D

Just IMO, but while those are all great, not very many of them seem like they're from a teen's vernacular. (Well, maybe pipe smoker :) )
