Question about Share Your Work

After you guys gather your crits from the SYW board, do you usually take them down? I know I could take the part I posted down, but the others' will stay there.

Or do you leave it? I want to take the crits and polish this last one - in fact, the thoughts they gave me have me adding much more to the scene and changing it quite a bit. Hate to have the ugly one still hangin' around.

What do you guys usually do?

People often ask me to lock their SYW thread so it sinks out of sight and so people know it isn't 'active'

Some critters have expressed a disappointment with SYW being removed because they feel a critique isn't only for you but helpful to any who read it. If you remove it or alter the original their comments are of less importance or become ambiguous.

Personally, I'm open to comments as long as anyone wants to comment but locking the thread will certainly kill it if you want. But people like me will read it just to see why it was locked.

This is a new concept to me, I figured they just remained, because the point of SYW is, among other things, to see how others get it right (and how readers respond) and how others get it wrong (and how readers respond.)

It helps learning to play an audience, without doing it all by yourself.

I get really annoyed when people take down work they have posted in SYW.

If you have worked on something enough to post it then you should be prepared to leave it up. If you posted a rough draft that got blasted... ha ha - that's what you get for wasting peoples time with a draft you know you could have made much better if you thought about it yourself rather then letting other people fix it for you.

That's my 2 bahts worth.

Generally we like to encourage people to leave 'em up, unless the piece sells.

I wasn't sure because I read in the newbie thread by Jenna that we didn't have to worry about out stuff being posted forever (ie; google search, etc) you could always take them down.
I do realize that with a password that does stop any Googling. I wasn't sure how people do things around here.
Leaving it up is fine with me.
