Just curious if any of you are planning on coming up (over...out...down) for WHC in Toronto this year. The last one I went to was in Baltimore (forget the exact year, but it has to be like 10 years ago), but this one's a 20 minute drive from my house, so it would be pretty silly not to go.

So, you coming?

So I got curious and emailed the coordinator. There *will* be agents and editors there, hopefully looking for fresh meat.

If I brown-bag lunch for the next 6 months...

The website is unintentionally funny: It reads like the con will be one big opp to get--and stay--plastered for 4 days. Party after party--when will attendees have time (or not be hung over) to go to classes? :e2drunk:

I'll be going. While there is a fair amount of drinking, there is also a whole lot of business that gets done. It is a fun time, and there are many excellent opportunities for career enhancement (many people secure publishing contracts, agent representation, novels are launched, the Stokers are awarded, etc).

I really wish I could go; I live in Montreal and it's in Toronto so six hours away. Thing is, I don't have a car. We'd have to take a car and splurge on a hotel. Both my fiancée and I are saving our cash for the next few months; I'm publishing my first book with iUniverse so it already cost me a lot to get my book edited and I'll be investing a lot in review copies and press releases to send out, advertising, and other promotional stunts. Plus, we're getting married in August and we're moving out of town in October so this couldn't fall on a worst year to finally take place in Canada :( Oh well, I'm disappointed I'm not going, but the rest of the year should be a real blast! Maybe next year, who knows!

Me, too. Flying out from wet and wooly Washington isn't in my budget. Damn, it'd be a blast to share a few drinks with some of the published pros, not to mention any of the AW regs that happen to make it. Maybe next year (he says as he raids the couch for loose change).
