Hi everyone. I've been posting here but I never introduced myself. I know, it's very rude of me. I actually have a fear of formal introductions, so let's keep this as informal as possible.

I started off writing poetry and now I'm working on a memoir. I haven't written a poem in almost 4 months and it feels pretty strange, as I used to write a half dozen or so per month. I just can't seem to write prose and poetry at the same time. But I'm liking this prose writing. It's different and challenging.

I have a weenie dog named "Baby." Recently she was almost arrested for breaking and entering (no Im not joking.) I also have a cat that climbs the walls (not joking about that either). I keep reading these articles about animals (I love animals) that say pet owners are a lot like their pets and I'm finding it discouraging.

I love writing and I tend to get along better with prose writers than poets. Poets tend to be real whackjobs.

Anyway, it's good to be here and I've gotten a lot out of reading the various forums.

:welcome:

So if you're concerned you're becoming like your pets, does that mean you have urges to break into other people's houses to climb the walls? ;)

Be sure to check out the Writing about Animals forum. Welcome to AW!

stormie, some of my poems are like that too! actually maybe only one or two isn't like that!

TheIt, I actually did break into a house recently--I was thinking about buying it and it was vacant. the door was unlocked and so i just went in to take a look, I swear! I did not climb any walls while I was inside the house. though the spiders in the bathtub made me want to...

Behind you!
Uh-oh, if we're like our pets, I may be buried in the back yard of a house I no longer own...

Maryn, glad to meet you despite being semi-creeped out

I never did either, and it still bothers me at times. At least you had the good sense not to wait as long as I have. And I'm glad you did introduce yourself, or else I wouldn't have had any other way to say, "Welcome." :)

Nice to meet a fellow pet lover, Calamity.

(Two Maltese live at this house. We aren't fancy-dog people, but each dog came up for sale because one's former owner had cancer, and one's former owner got a fulltime job and couldn't keep her.) :Hug2:

You didn't break into that vacant house and blame the dog, did you? Poor Baby - hope (s)he isn't under house arrest.

The story would have been less surprising if the cat (burglar) had been the one to break and enter. :D

Nope, I haven't introduced myself either. I got lost & then I got sidetracked by one thread after another...

"Ladies and Gentlemen...Ladies and Gentlemen. Your attention please."
*Drum roll begins*
"We are honored this evening, with the presence of our dear, and may I say, lately arriving, but most delightful of all calamities...THE GREAT CALAMITY!" *Cheers, applause, cameras flashing*

How's that?
