Hi everyone! I just wanted to pass on that I have picked up a copy of Stephen Kings "On Writing" book and Janet Evanovich's "How I Write" books and I have to say they have a heap of good stuff and advice to read. Just thought I'd post. Not sure if this the it correct section or not but I wanted to let everyone know how much I was enjoying these books.

:)

Having never read them, what are they resources FOR? Inspiration, technical writing knowledge, gateways to other research sources?

Good question Cathy. I guess they are good for inspiration mostly. The Stephen King one talks about what to avoid and how he structures his first draft. Kind of the rules he works by. The Janet Evanovich one is a Q and A book. She answers all the questions that people have posted on her website. Both boths offered lots of advice and guidance plus with the Janet Evanovich's book I learn different things I had before about technical writing.

Hope that explains it a bit better.

Ha! When I saw the title to your post I was all excited about finding two new books on writing so I could go out and get them, but I already own those two. I'm not sure whether or not I should be sad or happy about that because there's no new books for me but I also save money by not having to buy them again. It probably wouldn't matter for the On Writing book by King because lucky me I found that one in a for sale bin at Wal Mart for $5.

!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't believe it when I saw that, hardcover and all. Totally worth it, I probably would have bought it if it had been at it's original price, but yeah, they're pretty sweet.
