This thread got started somewhere else on the boards a few days ago and garnered almost 6 pages of discussion for a 2 paragraph snippet. As soon as it got moved to erotica SYW it died. Traffic there is terrible. How can we get people's input if they don't go there?

I forget about it...I promise to visit more often. Maybe someday I'll even get brave enough to post something! :)

Make it more accessible? Other web sites seem to do just fine with an "If you click on this, you're certifying that you're old enough to view this material."

I'm not sure the SYW-Erotica posts even show up in the New Posts, which is the only way I navigate these boards. Do they, or have I just never noticed any?

I thought they did. Hmm. Let me look into this.

I suspect posts in this forum show up, but not from SYW.

We need a sticky post in this forum that explains about the Erotica SYW and how to get access.

I can't get into ESYW, I keep forgetting to ask for a password...

I'm old enough, though, I promise!

I didn't even know such a thing existed. I usually navigate via new posts, too.

I know they show up if you're subscribed to one of the threads thereon. I know this because I've started a thread over there, and it shows up in my User Control Panel quite often.

I don't know if this is what you're all referring to, but I hope my post helps, nonetheless.

Okay, I've double checked, and it should be visible on the forum jump and new posts menus, both--but since it's a password forum, you'd have to already have entered the password--which you'll have to do whenever you log out of AW and log back in.

Let me work on this, folks. I'm confident we can figure out a system that's less cumbersome. And thanks for the suggestions!

I really should get that password...

PM Mac or Veinglory, and give them your age. I'm sure it won't be a problem.

:)

P.S.

I've noticed one thing about entering the passwords when I'm going directly from my User CP to the Erotica-SYW forum. In my case, the password thingy won't allow either password to work. I find I have to go from User CP over to the main Water Cooler site, go to SYW, enter the first password, then open up the Erotica-SYW separately, and enter the second password. It's a bit inconvenient, but at least I can get there.

I, too, have critique in this forum on my list of good intentions. I confess, too, that although I have the password, I seem incapable of memorizing it--it ain't no "vista"--and the extra step of having to access my PMs every time probably keeps me from going there more.

Hmm, maybe I should post something, too. That's one way to force yourself to go, just to see what people are saying. ("Talentless hack!" "No, no, the term you want is 'sick puppy'!" "You're both wrong. It's 'disgusting pervert'!" "I still think talentless hack is okay, though.")

Maryn, good at imagining your dialogue

I just never log out, I never need to enter any passwords, they get stored in cookies.

We could change the password to some memorable, short, word--but I hesitate at having to reissue it to everyone!

Besides, someone who shouldn't be at Erotica-SYW might 'guess' that word?

Sean, I'm shocked at the words you must be thinking! (Well, not really.) And what have you done to Ian?

As far as the name goes, I realized that my original reason for changing it was not 1) the reason I originally gave, or 2) a very good reason. I decided to go back to a modified version of my original username, because I changed my name for all the wrong reasons.

Besides that, people on the 'Net, to some extent, know the name Sean D. Schaffer, whereas the name Ian D. Mecantie is still fairly new and could be more confusing than it would be worth.

Another thing I did wrong was deciding that my real name held too much emotional baggage, the kind I should have just let go of through whatever means necessary.

So now I'm in the process of getting rid of the baggage, and I just think now that my real name is fine for the profession. Plus it's easier for me to sign than my other name was, although the signature with my other name was cooler, both to write and to look at.

I guess this is my roundabout way of saying I need to be true to myself. Since I trunked Wyverinia Chronicles, I have finally realized I can let go of the junk that once accompanied my writing career and personal life.

So that's basically what happened with the name. As for the words I was thinking of, how could you be shocked at an Erotica writer thinking such words? ;)

I hope you have a wonderful week ahead, everyone, and I'll talk to you all later.

:)
