Has anyone heard this story?

A bookstore set up a signing with an erotic writer and an inspirational one. I believe the Inspie writer was self-published.

Anyway the story goes that the inspie writer tried to encourage people to shun the erotic author, that she mentioned god and sin a lot, that every time someone tried to talke to the erotic author she interrupted.

I've heard this a couple of times now and am starting to wonder if it isn't apocryphal. I'm not saying it is, just that the details have been vague enough and have changed enough to make me wonder.

Does anyone know the truth behind it? Just for fun? (I'm just a bit nosy, really. But I do wonder if it's true or not.)

I've never heard the story before, but I wouldn't be surprised if such a thing ever did happen. A lot of people think Erotica is bad because there's sex in it. Some people even believe that any sex at all is a sin.

Go figure. I know my post doesn't answer your question, but it is an interesting topic, to be sure.

I hope you find your answers soon.

:)

Not familiar with it, but having worked in bookstores, it would be very odd to schedule inspirational and erotica authors to appear together. That's not to say it couldn't happen, it would just be a weird thing to do.

That's what I thought, Marlys, and that's why the fact that I've seen this story a couple of times now makes me wonder. I can see this happening once, maybe, but happening to a few different erotica writers?

Or is it the same story changing and evolving in the retelling, which in itself fascinates me?

I'd vote for evolving ~grinz~. I agree with Marlys. It seems unlikely that a book store would make this kind of arrangement.

Perhaps this story originated from an event like the book signing at RT. At the last two RT's the room as been set up in alphabetical order by authors last name with no division for genre, which means that erotic/erotica romance authors are in some cases sitting next to inspirational authors.
