I am excited to be posting this message. It is my first message, not just on this site, but on any site. I discovered it by accident while looking for instruction on writing querry letters. I expect that I will find that instruction here, and also, as pursuits like this go, useful information that I have not even begun to seek. I hope that as I become more familiar with the workings of this site, I will find my place and be able to contribute something to others as well.
Since I am hoping to make some virtual friends through this network, I suppose I should give at least a little information about myself.
I am a Christian. I am currently writing alot of Christian material on subjects of spiritual growth as they come to me through a synthesis of reading, personal experience, and interaction with others. I write essays and poetry, for the most part.
My greatest challenge in writing came when a college instructor gave us a "Slice of Life" fiction assignment. I will organize a story around a message of some sort even when I am trying not to.
I am also an Alcoholic in recovery through the fellowship of AA. I will have four years on March 23, if I stay sober that long. (It could happen).
I am interested in exchanging critiques with other writers. If you have things in common with me besides the love of letters, that is a bonus, not a necessity.
I am also interested in learning about freelance writing for trade magazines.
If you can connect with me on any of the above points, or if you would simply like to inform me that there really is a vast community of writers...out there, I would be happy to hear from you.
