Hi, friends:

What started out as a short story has morphed into a novella -- 16,500 words. Despite the odd length, I like the story and I think it's of publishable quality. A friend advised me that The Texas Review Press publishes novellas. Anyone know of other literary magazines which will consider novellas? Most submission guidelines limit story length to 7,000 or 8,000 words. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm also seeking novella publishers for my 23k effort, so thought I'd try to breathe some life into this old thread. I'm looking for small press publishers rather than litmags, and know that Literary Laundry is doing a novella series. There is also Nouvella, Fiction Attic Press, Vagabondage, and Patasola Press. Does anyone know of any others? I know novellas aren't very popular, but I'm sure there must be a few more outlets...

Well, many places will count that as a novelette, not a novella, so it might be a bit easier to sell. But you can always cut it to short story length. Learning to write to length is a major part of being a selling writer.
