Hooray, hooray. Self-congratulations all around. I just finished the draft of my current novel: 89,500 words in...let's see...54 days! Hooray!

I owe a debt of gratitude to these boards, too, which I only recently started visiting (don't let my early joining date fool you). As far as procrastination tools go, this one's been pretty great--in addition to the useful/interesting discussions, it was a solid motivating force. Thanks!

Now I get to revise!

Thank you! It was nice to have a place to go express my joy and triumph.

But it's a new day: self-congratulations are over. Back to work (not on my writing, unfortunately)--

Well, I'm a grad student on the last legs of the dissertation (with a lot of nervous energy, courtesy of the academic job market), so that helps. But basically all I did was make myself write a minimum of 1000 words every single day, no matter what. (Well, I took two days off: Christmas, and then a day when I had 3 job interviews.) I also sustained myself with the thought that I could stop doing this once I got to the end.

I know I should feel more eager to sign on for 1K/day forever, but having an actual end in sight helps me SO much more.

Great job Jess, and now you'll have to return in a few weeks to tell us the revisions are completed. :D
