I am quite new to writing but I am enjoying it. I have read through part of the Uncle Jim's writing thread thing... and I've noticed that I've been making quite a lot of mistakes. I would love for someone to be my mentor I don't mind if you absolutely tear my writing apart or twist it beyond recognition, if it helps my writing I'm happy.

If you want to be a Mentor then try me I won't make a fuss and it doesn't matter if you're a world renouned author or a 12 year old who randomly puts pen to paper.

If anyone is interested then please just say you are... oh I forgot it's fantasy with a bit of sci-fi and if you want to have a peek i made a topic on the share your work area.

Any replies to this thread will be most appreciated,
Thanks to any posters in advance.

Notus,

Mentors as such don't normally respond to requests from beginners. Being a mentor can be very demanding and mentor's pupils usually need to have demonstrated a considerable degree of commitment, talent and ability before being able to benefit from a mentor.

You just mean a teacher, but there are no shortcuts to learning how to write novels.

If by reading, you are already spotting things you can do better, that's great.

Continue doing just that and you'll do fine and also soon find out if you have the necessary stamina and determination to finish what you have started.

Good luck and enjoy the process.

In addition to saying that Bufty is right, I'll also suggest posting periodically in Share Your Work. You indicated you already have, but do it again in a month or so after you've learned how to do some things better than you have been. You can get a lot of good advice on how to improve that way. okay, thanks davids
I've already posted in the share your work section, I'm going to re-do my first chapter and then re-post it, I know my grammar is terrible so I have to re-do it completely, I think that I will probably post a revised version tomorrow, I was taking the advice of some other people and in the past week I'm up to my 18th chapter
