For all those who live under the Queen's graces.
I need photos of an empty pub that looks like it would fit in the late 1800's
The comic book artist who is doing my script is at a standstill and needs reference photos.

Thanks everyone, and those small internet pictures are great, but they just won't do for my artist (go figure-- a fickle artist). He would like, and would gladly buy you a few tankards of ale (or a special thanks in my graphic novel) , if I could get some larger resolution pictures, with some details of the furniture, walls, behind the bar, floor boards, etc... No more than a half dozen or so pics.

You live in York... you lucky lucky bastid .... I love York... especially the pubs.

Do they still sell Hobgoblin in the Black Swan?

I stayed a couple of nights there a few years back... it's a great boozer, with bags of atmosphere, and the folk club up in the hall upstairs was pretty lively....

No chairs?

I read long ago that the old Aussie pubs were totally stand-up saloons. No chairs or tables. Not being an old Aussie, I don't know if that is true.

Pubs

I'd look at the pub scenes from Harry Potter -the first one. They were dark, dank, smelly and rough. It'd be good eighteenth century inspiration even though the Harry Potter pub is possibly veering more to Elizabethan...

Try 'The Coach and Horses' in Barnes, South West London. Apart from the lights, it's an olde worlde inn. There's another good one in Chardstock, Devon. The trouble with both of them is those darned slot machines...

Think cramped, low-ceilinged and dark and you're half way there.
