Venus Press?

Has anyone heard about the problems at Venus Press? I've mostly read about it in blogs, so I don't know what the feelings are all around. (Not that I'm planning to send them anything, but I certainly won't now.)

If they aren't answering emails from Piers Anthony I doubt they are too worried about the rest of us. There always seemed to be some feud or fuss going on with them.

I submitted to them in the very beginning but the submission got lost and generally confused to the point where I gave up--I don't have any direct experience with them. It's always hard to know how much you believe when it comes to blog gossip....

After looking around I saw enough reason to put Venus on EREC's previously empty 'not recommended' list. If there is any counter evidence, clarification or change in the situation I'd love hear about it.

Are They Back?

Is Venus Press back? This blog entry states that the web pages seems to be working again. I checked, and yes, the site (http://www.venuspress.com) is working again, and the YahooGroups are still there as well. (The chat group has new posts, and FWIW it looks as if the group was never taken down.)

However, no one is sure if it's really back, or if it's a "server blip." Someone pointed out that some of the books being sold on the site are currently being sold by other publishers. Yikes, this could get interesting.

I tried adding the Piers Anthony book to my cart, just to see what would happen. I got an error message from the shopping cart company -- "Error: There is no such store "venuspress". I also tried it with another book and got the same message.

By the way, I have it on good authority that the Piers Anthony book is now carried by Phaze, and the sequel will be coming out next month.
