I always try to give a rep point to people who take the time to read and comment on my poetry over in the critque forum. When I can remember, that is. The "rep point" thing kinda messes me up. Anyway, I also think that it's proper to say "thank you" in the thread where the poem was critted. Usually I wait until it starts to sink, then pop in and tell everybody thanks. This puts it back up at the top of the list. Sometimes this will bring the poem to the attention of others who have missed it, and they will kindly add some comments as well. The problem is, if I keep popping in to thank everybody it keeps bumping the post back to the top of the list, which comes off kinda selfish and self-serving. SO, for the record, thank you notes in my critted poetry posts apply equally to everyone above and below the actual post.

THANK YOU!!!!!! :thankyou:  :snoopy:

I'm with Skelly, except I rep point and thank for thoughtful comments and thank for mild "nice poem" kind of responses. At least that is my general intention--I do sometimes screw that up.

I'd like to take the time to simply say thank you to all those who simply pop by and read without commnet--it is gratifying to know that it is even read, moreso to know it elicited a response, and even more than that to receive a thoughtful response.

So, Thank you one and all.

I usually leave individual thank-yous in the thread.

Rep-points I use when I really, really appreciate something in a post and want the other person to know that I read and appreciated it. -Basically to draw attention to my reading of their post, among all the other people who may have read and commented on the thread. Sometimes I give rep-points just because I wanted to send a short message without expecting an answer back, and sometimes I use them to give crit that isn't too long for me to handle. Angsting over when and to whom one sends these points too really isn't my scene. As for sending them as simple thank-yous, it just feels a bit too much like bribery for my tastes. It's the kind of system that screws with people's minds I think, and I'm not too fond of it.

And while we're on the subject of thank yous: Thanks to anyone who's ever sent me a rep-point. Thanks again to all those who've ever posted on my threads. Thanks to those who read my stuff. Thanks to those who love me. Thanks to those who are better people than me and set examples for me to follow. Thanks to the mods for everything. Thanks to Rob for being such a sweetheart. Thanks to Mac for that message center thingie. Thanks to the people who really make a difference around here. Thanks to all those who deserve to be thanked and whom I've left out for whatever reason...

Mm. *pause*
Yeah, I think that's all I wanted to say really.

Thanks. ^o^
