How does an indoor cat - who hasn't even been out to the vet in over 8 months - get a flea? Neither of the other two have been out of the house in over 8 months... so where did the tiny livestock come from!?!

Tis true, Jen...go get stuff right away ...flea control...they don't live on humans just hitch a ride now and then.

I'm allergic to them.

They've got nasty bites compared to dog fleas. And they're really hard to kill. You can't just squish it - the little buggers are like mini-tanks.

Thankfully, we haven't had a problem for a few years, but with two outdoor cats we had a hell of a time back in the day.

If you want to kill a flea - you have to pop them between your thumbnails.

Then you have the joy of seeing if they've bitten you or not. :)

A good flea comb (I like the kind with metal teeth) and a little tub of soapy water can keep you occupied for ...
well, as long as the cat holds still.

Fleas don't even live on your pets - they live in your carpet, rugs, bedding etc. They jump on you for a ride in, or a quick meal. They jump on your pets for more meals, and to lay their eggs, and they'll hang out on them longer because of the fluff (it's all warm and, you know, fluffy).

Fleas will ride in on you, hop in through an open door, ride in on your friends/family, flip their way through a window screen, hitch a ride from your friend's house to yours via your purse, coat, shoes, buttocks (just kidding on that one).

There's no more satisfying feeling than the POP a flea makes when you crush its body between your two thumbnails :D

I saw a tick for the first time ever about four months ago. It looked like a bloated Glosette raisin. I wanted to vomit.

(PS hi again everyone, my computer was kind of AWOL for a long time.)
