Good luck!!

I just submitted my categories for Paintball. One thing I found odd was that they actually gave me a list of six things that had to be covered... I wondered if they meant in the exact categories as they outlined it, or not? I wound up coming up with 13 categories, and interspersing their suggestions, so it didn't look like I copied. <shrug> We'll see. LOL

This thread motivated me to check out available topics and I applied for one last weekend. (Not that I need the extra work right now, but that is another story

)

My topic is no longer on the list, but I haven't heard back other than the app confirmation. Hopefully, I wasn't too late.

Of course, I'm considering a couple of other topics that I could do also. Can you be a guide in unrelated topics?

Bingo, Talia! LOL Proposing categories, then you write a "sample piece" which you have to send them as a Word doc for review to make sure it's okay, THEN you post it using their software and stuff for your first "official review."

I am optimistic--I heard from my Guide yesterday, and she liked my categories and just recommended 2 or 3 changes. So far so good.

My question was can you be a guide for more than one topic? And if so, does it matter if those topics are unrelated (say one is a hobby and one is a health issue, etc.).

I'd have to hunt for it but I'm fairly certain it says in the conditions that you can only be a guide for one topic. If you find anything that says different I'd love to see it. Doing > 1 topic would be great!!!

About.com writing for multiple sites

Hi!

About.com use to allow Guides to write for multiple sites and you'll still see many Guides with two sites around the system. They stopped allowing that for new Guides, however, a couple of years ago.

Hi Talia!

Suite101 is not a huge money maker, but since mine is a book site, I enjoy receiving the Advance Review Copies of mystery books. It supports my reading habit.

That said, Suite 101 has made recent changes to its pay structure (they now give you the option to share in the ad revenue vs. the previous page view structure) and that move has tripled my pay from them.

I applied to be a guide as well :S

If I get accepted, it would be my first freelancing job. I think I can handle it seeing as how I love the topic (Science-Fiction and Fantasy) and know plenty about it as well. Doing research for my articles would be a blast
