There is a term for explaining things in a script for the reader.
Such as ...
'the following conversation is in French'.
This is used instead of writing (subtitles: French) under each and every character heading.
Another example ...
'This character never speaks.'
... so the reader has some instructions. Frowned on, I know, but from time to time needed to save lines.
