Hello, folks.

I'm another newbie-Canadian, having found a link else-web to here. Figured I'd say hello before retreating into a solid lurk until I get the feel of the place.

I hope you're having a lovely day. :)

Hi Ashtal and welcome to AW. We've got a lot in common, I can tell. Food is one of my major interests too!

Hi there Ashtal! I am glad you found us, it's a great place to post and to be. If you need something don't be afraid to ask, I've found everyone here to be so helpful in both questions about the board and its settings to feeding back on your 'shared' works. :D

Hope you're having a great day too Ashtal, looking forward to chatting with you in the forums. :)

Wow, you guys are quick!

I'm in Sudbury, Ontario. 33. My interest is sci-fi and fantasy (a touch of horror, too). I've had a messy love affair with my writing all my life, and after a wretched break up that lasted a couple of years, we've gotten back together.

I found the link to this place from the NaNoWriMo boards and I can thank NaNoWriMo for getting my arse in gear. I reached the 50,000 words in the month, but didn't finish the novel until this morning. No kidding. I've just finished printing out the first novel-length draft I have ever completed. I'm the kind of writer that started pieces but never finished. No longer. :)

I did manage to get a few things published in the local paper the year following journalism, but I ended up in this weird marketing position and stopped writing non-fiction. Also wrote and edited our local writers guild newsletter for a year. That was ... right before the break up. :D

My current goals are to edit this finished draft to something (I hope) will be publishable, start the next novel, and experiment with short stories.

Sudbury? Okay, you're safe :D I have family in Edmonton, White Horse, and Vancouver. NaNo was a freak show, eh? I was one of the freaks for my first time this year - my arse and fingers are still a little tingly.
