I forgot if I posted one of these, but hello all. I'm a sci-fi writer, (despite having not read any 'how to' books, which I am now....) who alos writes fanfiction (which I have read.)

I want to get published really bad. :) I know that work is involved, yes I know. But those lucky few who get published at 17 years old, make me wonder what I have that they don't lol.

Ok, um just curious, how is this site different from all others?

I don't know the answer to your question. I don't visit other writing sites. But I'll welcome you here anyway! :)

Welcome, drybones! Hope you enjoy it here and find lots of help and useful information. (I'm betting you will!)

Different: Are you referring to the Water Cooler, or to Absolute Write in general? Best way to know, I'd say, is to have a look. I'd say this is an amazing place with fantastic people. I understand that, in terms of feedback, sites can be anywhere from "all-nice" to brutally candid.

I'd say we're somewhere to the centre -- there's a lot of very good knowledge and experience here, and you'll get both straight answers and support, but always with respect (well, that's our Number One, and nearly only, rule).

I'd be interested to know what you think when you've decided for yourself. Again, welcome!

Hi. I'm another fanfic writer (which fandom are you in?), and I'm hoping to get published One Day.

Welcome to the Cooler, drybones. I'm sure once you're around a while you'll figure out all the reasons AW is different than other forums. We have a large number of forums that generate an enormous amount of quality information, by many, many talented writers.

Hope you stay around for a while and get to know us.

Hi drybonesreborn, I am new too but think the world of this place already. Definitely my favorite board to frequent now. I don't know the answer to your question about getting published as I am still in the process of querying agents trying to get representation for my finished books of which I have four. What kind of genre or type of writing do you do? :D
