I think it sounds damn silly. I'm probably not the intended audience, but still.

O, I love you Pete she exclaimed, and reached up to run her fingers through his redhair. And I love your job as a writertoo it's so great!

I think I'm deeply weirded out.

See!? It's weird. It's.....it's just weird. I'm stumped to come up with a better reason for it than that. It's like those horrible personalized spam letters I get from someone "who feels they can trust me [email protected] with this large sum of money, 'cause they know me so well." You read it and go "Yeah, right, ner ner ner."

Do you have to fill in personal characteristics for love scenes? because that might make it a lot of fun, in a Madlibs kind of way.

A friend of mine bought us a personalized romance book for our wedding... I thought it was a really neat gift. And it had vampires. :)

Pee Dee, maybe you could write an awesome personalized novel.

I did. I wrote three of them. They're in my signature. One of them raised $460.

:D

(short story, I don't know if I've properly welcomed you to the forums. Fifty posts in....welcome to the forums. :) )

I got one for Valentine's Day a few years back. It's really hilarious. See if I can find it and post some excerpts....

I filled out a preview. Can't bring myself to post the whole thing cause it feels too silly ... the first one I filled out was the pirates version; way too bizarre. Something about my bodice coming undone while I hadn't noticed! Could be a fun gift, but there's no way I could read a whole novel like this, especially a romance...

Katie blinked her hazel eyes. She couldn't help but be taken aback, not only by his sudden appearance, but by the fact that he was so at ease with being practically naked in front of a stranger. Not that he had any reason to be ashamed of his looks, or the way the water dripped from his damp, light brown hair down to his shoulders and chest...

Katie clasped her suitcase handle tightly, smiling at the stranger. "I know it's first come, first served. That's why I'm here early. Wanted to grab the best view." She held out her free hand. "I'm Katie Mac by the way."
The man reached over to shake her hand, his own warm and strong. "Brad Pitt. It's good to meet you, but you missed my point. I'm afraid this room's taken already," he added, as if the proprietary way he was leaning against the doorframe wasn't making that clear enough.

Although as an aside, I wonder if people could get in trouble for using celebrity names? Brad Pitt and Robert Redford are examples.

I'm interested in interactive fiction and computer games which personalize themselves to the user. I designed an interactive story where the main character could be male or female, which was challenging in that it was partially a romance. I've also done romantic roleplaying, which is like two people writing a customized romance novel for each other. So yeah I'd consider working for them writing personalizable novels. :D Unless you meant, would I buy one of those things? No, I don't particularly care to see my real self as a character in a story, I'd rather see a fictional character who was more interesting and appealing and had different problems than I do.

I wouldn’t consider writing a personalized novel, but it is a nice gift to give for a special occasion. Having one personalized for me, as PeeDee said, it’s just weird.

Did you read the one about the love triangle with Jon, Someone who will remain nameless, and Pete? That one's great I hear.

ETA: that ruined it.

*ahem*

Gather 'round, children:

(because some of us have no shame)

In the 1800s, Olga Elga is the savvy, stunning saloon owner who, on the advice of her best friend Satan, dares to give love one more chance. When Pete Tzinski rides into town on the rails of the new railroad, his smile steals our heroine's heart - but his holster is loaded with a secret that could blast away her livelihood!

Can Olga trust a man who may ultimately destroy her? Will Pete choose business or pleasure before his secret is revealed? Saddle up for love, passion and humor!

Olga and Pete meet and the tension begins!
Olga had to admit he was a rather attractive man, neatly attired in denim and leather. She scanned his athletic frame and stopped at an arresting pair of green eyes peeking out beneath a rather large cowboy hat, set atop red hair. The stranger approached the bar, wearing a smoldering smile across a handsomely rugged jaw.

"What can I do for you?" she said coolly. "What's your specialty," he flirted, leaning against the bar, flashing his big greens.
"Sarcasm," was the sharp reply. "Care for a double?" Olga had spent the morning cleaning the saloon's eaves troughs and was feeling filthy, embarrassed and annoyed all at the same time. She was in no mood for flirtation.
Put in his place, Pete cleared his throat and introduced himself as Pete Tzinski, a foreman with the Grand Humber railroad. "Ma'am, just call me Pete," he said, trying to make amends.
"Well the guy you're looking for? The hotel manager? That's me. I'm also the owner, Olga Elga," she said coolly, giving a little and extending her hand.
Olga and Satan discussing Pete the hottie!

So distracted was Olga by her conversation with Pete that she had forgotten Satan awaited her return on the other side of the kitchen door. Her friend leaned against the stove, arms folded with an amused grin on her lips. With a concerned look barely masking a huge smirk, Satan asked, "What's that in your eye?"
Olga stopped and blinked her black eyes - she didn't seem to have anything in her eye, but before she could reply Satan broke in with a smile. "I think it's a twinkle!"
"Did you listen to our entire discussion?" Olga scolded.
"Well, yeah," Satan replied.
After Satan took care of one of the saloon's patrons, the two old friends gossiped in the kitchen about the evening's events.
"He's okay if you like that type," Satan said.
"Oh, you still see Pete as that type?"
"No, a different type now," she elaborated. "Y'know, the charming, handsome, gentlemanly type. You're right. I think I've changed my mind. I want him for myself now!" They chuckled youthfully and Olga felt the heat rise in the kitchen or did she just blush?
Olga and Pete - a late night surprise

Pete was completely distracted by the vision before him. Olga stood against a tree, the breeze blowing her robe open exposing her thin cotton nightdress, making it clear there was little or

nothing between her haloed body and the white fabric. Olga suddenly became very conscious of that same fact. The combination of the cool breeze, her moment of fright and the excitement of a man's forbidden gaze made her skin tingle and her breasts strain against her night shirt. In the shadows she could not see his eyes drift over her shapely body, but she could feel them just the same.
"Are you cold?" Pete said, breaking the awkward silence. He removed his overcoat and carried it to Olga, the moonlight reflecting majestically off her silver hair.
"Yes, thank you," she replied. Her hands were cold but there was a warmth building from within. Every other part of her body seemed confused by the circumstances...

I think it's funny how the books include eye and hair color every chance they can get.

I think that they should do more options. I wouldn't buy a whole book of this, but it's fun to take a scene from a cheesy novel and insert horrid stuff into it. Like a Novelist's MadLib.

That just sounds painful and frightening to me...

Can a person's jaw BE ruggedly handsome? I've certainly never paid attention.
