Hi all,
I am pleased to have found this place, I was doing a search on a publisher and followed a link here to the Background Check forum. I have not been published yet but I am in still that researching publishers phase which can take years to get to where you've finally gotten the right query letter to the right person who is willing to take a chance on your work.
I have three children's stories written and a forth nearly completed. In addition to that I have a memoirs book done that I hope to see published in the near future. I also have two other almost finished novels I could whip in to shape when I find time this year. I've led a pretty interesting life and think that I am going to make a difference in the world through my writing. I know I get told all the time by people in the community how inspiring it is to see me getting around and doing things.
You see I nearly died in a motorcycle accident in 87" and I am very lucky to be here. Almost everything I've written features disability in some form, from being an amputee like myself to having autism like my 10 year-old son. I personally know what living from a wheelchair is like and I don't mind talking about it so if you have any questions just ask away! I lost my left leg to the hip just about and that is why I use a chair, I have an artificial leg but it's too hard to walk with it.
I look forward to being part of the forums here and have been looking for something like this for ages, amazing how I never found this place sooner in all the googling I've done.
Thanks to you all for setting up such a fabulous place for writers to gather, share advice and tips as well as ideas on things.
