View Full Version : Going through withdrawal

I had to put writing aside during the Christmas season. I was invaded by returning offspring and hopelessly behind in shopping and preparations, so it had to go unless I was willing to sacrifice my family.

Tomorrow, life will return to normal, I'll start sleeping again and - oh yes - writing.

To tell the truth, I've actually missed it, which is a very good sign, because regular, disciplined writing is a recent development in my life.

...unless I was willing to sacrifice my family.

Yes, that is the test.

I go into withdrawal without writing, as well. Even writing letters to friends and family (letters, not email) is better than not writing!

I'm in a slump. Haven't written a word in a month.
Must have been the season... I hope!

Saundra, just write any old thing. A short story based on a headline in today's paper might be just the thing.

As for me, I'm going to go back to my pre-Christmas rule: no Internet till I've written my daily quota.

If I have to give up my chunk of daytime writing for friends and family (whatever THAT is) then I tend to get kind of nocturnal, whether I want to or not. I'll be up for hours writing, and then go to bad happily.

If I don't write every day I get mean, bordering on vicious. Husband knows there is no chance for ANYTHING tonight and kids flee when they see me.

Yup, it doesn't matter what kind of productivity I've filled my day with, if I don't write ,I feel like I've done nothing.

If I write anything over a thousand words (don't matter how little time it takes) I feel like a super hero.

I'll be up for hours writing, and then go to bad happily.

But I never go to bad.

Same here. Thats why a lot of my posts here are at such ungodly hours:tongue

I didn't write anything constructive over Christmas, but I did write lots of little snippets. Mostly this was just conversation between two nameless characters. I don't know what prompted me to do this, but it was quite refreshing. I didn't use any dialogue tags, I just let what was being said convey all the necessary emotions. I've ended up with about four pages worth of stuff. I'm going to keep it all, as I'm sure it'll come in handy at some point in the future.

Thanks, Judg... I'll try that. Gotta do something!
Damn muse must have gone on an extended holiday.

And why not? Could be getting the batteries re-charged.
