Turn Around Time

Couple of things.

Did they request it, or did you send it cold?
Is it a large company or a small outfit?
Did you send it before Thanksgiving?
Did it go to the actual person or is a reader looking it over and reporting?

If you sent it cold, you may never get an answer, because they may not have opened it, trashed it or it's in the endless pile. Could take months.

If requested, the average is 2-6 weeks for an answer.

If you sent it after Thanksgiving, I would start the clock today since everyone pretty much shuts down from late Nov to the new year.

In either case, if it has been more than 4 weeks (based on the holiday schedule I mentioned) and if you have contact info like email or phone, I would shoot a nice little note or call wishing him/her a happy new year and wondering if he had the time to look it over yet.

Don't sound anxious or desperate.
