I've recently terminated my relationship with my agent. The contract stipulated that the termination letter be sent 30 days prior to the date on the contract. That didn't happen, but I've been so unhappy with our relationship (nonexistent since the agent won't respond to me) I figured it wouldn't hurt to send the letter anyway.

The letter was received and signed for and I still haven't heard anything. Do you think that I can consider the relationship effectively terminated?

I'm making some significant revisions to my manuscript and would like to seek out another agent for it once the revisions are complete, but I don't feel like my agent-seeking foundations are that sturdy at the moment, given the complete non-response to anything I've sent into the black hole of my former(?) agent.

So sorry...call him and see if you can come to a mutual agreement...
Document all your correspondance with h/er.
If this doesn't work...maybe if you bug him enough he'll quickly agree to reliquish you from the contract.

I recently ended my contract with an agent. I mailed a hard copy and emailed her to let her know it was on its way. She responded by email.

I think the least your agent could do is respond in a professional manner. If the contract states it could be ended within 30 days of written confirmation, I think you can safely assume the break has been made.

Thanks, Victoria. I've sent you an email.

I did try to communicate with the agent first via email to address my concerns and specifically requesting she respond by a certain date. No response to that either.
