I was more interested in the number of languages HP gets translated into: 63.

I sat down to list every language I could think of with enough of a literate market t justify books and got stuck at #44.

That's a lot of advance checks and contracts and royalty statements to manage. I almost feel sorry for the staff at Chris Little. Almost.

There's also a Latin and Ancient Greek version (as well as a Gaelic one, I believe). I have the Latin one

There's different versions of Gaelic, too. There's Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic, and I think a couple others.

I still say "Deathly Hallows" sounds like a marshmallow peep gone bad.

Sorry Orion. I just love the whole black/dark/spooky background with the blood like letters. What colors can I use to make it keep that effect but be a better blog look?

I'm in a big HP mood. After all those behind the scene bits on the next movie that we got I can't help but be in a mood. Plus I'm rereading HP 5 right now anyway.

I think so. The next movie will be out in early July, but I heard that Book 7 would also be released around there. They're probably editing chapters as she finishes them. Since she started in December 2006, talk about rushed.

Knowing my luck, her book will be released the same time my next one is scheduled to come out. Not that I'm competition, but it's hard to get people to buy a new book to read when they've got something that juicy to sink their minds into.

It's rumored to be coming out 7/7/07 (the number 7 is an ongoing theme throughout the books). Nothing's definite yet, but a lot of chain stores have already started taking preorders and printing up posters.

If Harry dies and comes back to life, I will have lost faith in just about everything.

We have the Welsh edition at home somewhere. In fact, we kind of collect Harry Potter in odd languages. So far we have almost a full set in German (which I actually speak), plus some in French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Dutch, Latin, Danish and Swedish.

So we can give you the words for "Alas! Earwax!" and "Bogey-flavoured" in all of the above languages...

Some interesting translational quirks as well: the German version translates the name of the Dursley's street, but not the town - so he lives at Ligusterweg 4, Little Whinging, Surrey.

And so by this you are saying that any language but English is odd? *hrmph*

Christine, isn't this December 2006, now? :) Did you mean December 2005 or 2004?

Yeah, I'm being a little funny. But I do genuinely want to know. I thought she'd been writing this book since late '04, but now I'm thinking about it maybe it was '05.

Anyway, can't wait for the book.

And am I the only one really sick of seeing her hint Harry might not make it? I sure hope Harry makes it, because if he doesn't those books are losing their places on my shelves. What kind of ending would that be? I wouldn't share that story with my kids!

Deathly Hollows?

God, I hope her editors catch that one. No offence, J.K.Rowling, but I hate the title.
