I like to listen to the DVD commentary of screenwriters to try to get a feel for their thought process. Some commentaries are good; some are not so good.

Because of the limited screenwriting commentaries out there, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of good screenwriting/directing DVD commentary.

I just watched/listened to Brad Silberling (Moonlight Mile) and thought he gave excellent insight. He is writer and director.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I enjoy Gary Ross' commentary for "Pleasantville". He's also the director, and a lot of the talk is about the technical stuff. But he does discuss the script.

Kenneth Lonergan's commentary for "You Can Count on Me" isn't bad. Again, he's also the director. To tell you the truth, I can't think of any screenwriter-only commentaries I've bothered to listen to.

The director/writer commentaries on the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions are excellent...

/agree on LotR.

I'd also add "A Knight's Tale" because the screenwriter is also the director.
