Fellow writers:

Do you have any suggestions/offerings on Agencies/agents. I feel like I'm submitting to everyone under the sun (for my genre) and getting no where fast! I'm sooooo tired of the rejections, any help would be appreciated. I you know of anyone accepting new authors. Getting discouraged rapidly. UGH

I'm sooooo tired of the rejections,

Are you getting any feedback, or only form rejections?

If the former, then you need to see if there's some common theme for rejection. Starts too slow, clunky dialogue, etc.

If it's the latter, then you might want to rethink your query. Have you posted your query in Share Your Work? There's a great board for critiques that have really helped a number of people.

Also, check www.agentquery.com to scan for possible agents.

Emeraldcite:

thanks, I had a couple at beginning that mentioned the beginning of story had too much ("gave too much of story away" he told me) information. I had the same concerns and revamped the entire section. But pretty much I think I'm getting standard rejections.

I'll try what you suggested too. Thank you soo much!

Find print-pubbed writers whose books share similar themes/genre to yours, and who have websites with a contact address.

A short, polite mail asking if they could impart the name of their agent to you might nab you some names. Never ask them to read or tell them the plot of your book, keep it simple.

If you read and enjoyed their books--and be truthful with 'em!--a thumbs up in that area goes a long way. Everyone likes a sincere egoboo.

But what the others said, you probably need a good beta reader to tell you what needs fixing. Do this thoroughly before contacting any agent.

Several people liked my 1st book, but they all agreed that the headlong action stalled at one specific point. I didn't like what I heard, but removed the point, and surprise, the plot hurtled forward.

When two or more people hit on the same thing, listen.
