Let say you are working on a screenplay based on a topic (in this case, lets say a alcholic) do any of you watch any films that deal with that subject for inspiration or for a reference?

And if you do, how do you find them? Just by memory or is there some sort of "magical" online database of somesort that summarizes all the old or recent movies that deal with a topic you're writing about?

Just curious

Go to www.imdb.com (Internet Movie Database). It lists virtually every movie ever made...and you can do searches based on any plot you can think of.

Good luck.

wow, I'm familiar with IMDB for looking up info about actors and film credits, but never knew you could look up films per subject matter

I'll give it a closer look
