Well after the fiasco of my last work, yet not dead, I've decided to research even more, I've been away for quite a bit, I can say that I improved a bit but not so much in my opinion.

This is something that for me is a big problem, I have no problem learning, the problem is using it at the right time and moment, actually.. I'm a bit forgetful *eeks*

I have already mentioned that my main language is spanish, and well one of my friends suggested to do it in spanish first then translate it in english but I think that would be a great waste of time and it wouldn't be the same, since some words in spanish aren't that accurate in english and might cause even more confusion than usual.

It's true I lost my will a bit, but in september I started strongly, now with two of my friends helping me editing. My mind is set to accomplish me goal . So I'm seeking not desperately but patiently asking for help. Need to keep me head cool.

I'm hoping to be in the right section sorry for the long post and well I hope once again to get on track, not only on reaching my goals but also in life after some problems.

I have two to four people(mostly friends) wanting me to rush the story since I gave them the plot outline and showed them part of the first chapter as teaser but I strong feel that its need better word usage. It's a light novel I want to submit to tokyopop, though I'm a pure rookie and don't feel like I'm going to make it but I guess I still have confidence. *smacks head on keyboard for contradicting self*

As for my last work, I revamped it but nevermind that it seems that I keep going offtopic :D

Ah it seems that I wrote all that and forgot to ask something else, I was wondering if there was a good dictionary compilation or thesaurus, also same thing but as software.

For a Thesaurus, you probably can't beat good old Roget's. Many Dictionaries and Thesaurus(es), or whatever the dam plural is, are available as software or on-line, and can be found by simple searches.

And, not inconsequently, your post indicates clearly that you don't have significant problems writing clearly in English, so stop worrying about that. In fact, it probably will be a great advantage to you in your writing to be fluent in both languages.

Dictionary.com is pretty good, and has a thesaurus.

Thanks, the reason I'm worried is because my mind goes in a loop sometimes wondering "what could be the best way to describe this-that action... damn *procrastinate all the way!*"

@Siddow, I'm using dictionary.com but I'm more looking for offline usage.

Uncertain about the problem?

Well, until you are completely at ease with English, you probably need to bounce it off of casual critics for appropriate use of language. This, however, will not curtail an inappropriate or incorrect use of a given verb or adjective during a descriptive.

Good work on getting a gig with Tokyopop and relax. Just write. It's what and who you are, isn't it? After you are done, submit it or parts to guage where you are at contextually.

Good thesauri are available, as well as good dictionaries. I use Word, and it is very light on available alternatives words, so I also use Roget's in hard cover. Additionally, I have a few pieces of software I downloaded to help. I expanded my thesaurus through a pay site, but downloaded a small app called WordWeb. When used with Word, you highlight the word, the click on WordWeb and it gives you similars, spelling, use, etc. Very nice and no cost; http://wordweb.info/free/ .

Another small but powerful thesaurus I found was Moby_Thesaurus. http://www.download3k.com/Install-DonationCoder.com-Mobysaurus-Thesaurus.html

Keep trying, and if you get stuck, shoot one of us a note or post it here on AW.

Thanks for the links,

Gotta say that I've been jumping from community to community looking for good constructive critics, found myself going back to AW(I didn't left on purpose.. more like I couldn't remember the name of this domain). Man I think I should start worrying about this memory problem I'm having!, I'm just 18 sniff...

I'm glad my friends are cheering for me, also been in touch with my english teacher which she told me to bring the manuscript to her.

Another question, since I don't want to stay offtopic for long, while reading their submission guidelines they said to provide "List of published work or writing credentials" but for me that's a bit hard at the moment... Would it really be that important? despise if all the sample was all correctly written, or amazing etc etc (not just tokyopop, but other publishers)

I guess I should mention this now, but I'm a very picky person, I want people to understand me, to enter "my world" and see the vivid image and enjoy and see the way I do.

What's wrong with writing it in Spanish if that is your primary language. I was down to my local Barnes and Noble today and noticed they have two shelves dedicated to Spanish language books, including fiction.

A rare case of course, I never had any interest in writing fiction in spanish, though I did get complimented by my spanish teacher for doing a narrative story but that's about it since it was an assigment and still didn't feel that "impulse" to write in my primary one.

There is nothing wrong with writing with my primary language, but since I started with english I just finish up writing in english. Starting in spanish now would be pointless, maybe if it was a short story, yea why not.

You could probably get by very well by sticking to a limited subset of English, and always writing in the active voice. Run away from Thesauruses.

I teach English as a Second Language, and I do NOT reccomend that you write in Spanish and then translate it. The writing this produces is usually pretty bad. It is much better to write within your abilities in English, and have a native speaker proof it for grammar.
