Does anyone know how long Tina Wexler takes to answer on full MS? She asked for an exclusive, and exclusives suck. But if it's a month or less, I'd be willing to do it for such a good agency...

By the way, I also want to mention just how much I love AW--I never could have gotten a request from ICM without all your help on my query!!!

To be honest, I think I'd just agree to any length of exclusive upwards of several months for such an amazing agency. I can't help you though with how long this Tina person usually takes, sorry! Congrats though, that is totally awesome and very much worth celebrating in and of itself!

Publishing is a slow process. If you have a good agency requesting to read material, it's well worth your time.

ICM?... Wait until the cows come home. You are LUCKY to have anyone at that agency reading your work... she must think you've really got something to offer; an agent from ICM has a lot of clout in the film world, too. Give her three months and never let her know you ever even thought that ICM could only have less than a month.

Good luck -- you did something very right!

The only thing is, a couple o other agents have requested it as well. I don't want to make them wait inefinitely, especially since ICM is such a very long shot.

If other agencies have requested it, I'd tell her that you're not in a position to offer an exclusive at this time. She might be willing to look at it on a non-exclusive basis.

Me too! My full is still out with ICM (and so I can't answer your question--though my MS is not with Tina and it's not an exclusive), but I just wanted to jump in and give a shout out to AW for the same reason Elektra mentioned.

Fingers crossed for both of us, Elektra!

I agree. Miss Snark agrees. That's enough for me.

Wow - congratulations! If ICM is your dream agency (which, who could blame you?) I'd let the other agents that have requested your manuscript know that you have granted another agency an exclusive look, but you will look forward to sending the manuscript their way once the other agency has had their look. (Um... but word it purdy.)

Congrats again - I'll cross my fingers for you!

A member in my YA crit group got a response (rejection) within a couple months, I think. Maybe less.

there are only two things you can do, grant the exclusive or let icm go - thats your choice, everything else you have no control over - if you cant wait for a few weeks or even a couple of months, then you wouldnt do very well in the publishing business

Congrats on getting a request from ICM, Elektra!

An agent requested my full with a three-week exclusive. I was wary at first. When I told her I had fulls out with other agents, she still wanted to read my ms anyway.

While you're waiting for exclusivity to run out, you can get on with writing your next brilliant ms.

Good luck!
