Hello all,

After I finished my dissertation in July 2005 (Protecting and preparing children: Peace activist parenting in a post 9/11 world), I started reading books about publishing and revising dissertations into books... But the fact is, it is November 2006, and I haven't done anything with it yet.

I have had interest expressed by a small press to review the manuscript for possible publication as an academic monograph. Part of the reason I'd like a mentor is to help me figure out if that is the right route for me or whether I should persevere for a wider audience.

I would like to find a mentor who can help guide me. Here are some of the questions I would have for a mentor who would be willing to read one chapter (70 double-spaced pages) and skim the rest to understand the overall structure:

-Is this worthy of a trade press book?
-Is there enough material here to turn into a book?
-Any suggestions on structure/framing/hook? I feel that the theoretical framework I used in the dissertation isn't the most interesting framing for a popular audience.

I have just stared at this work too long by myself... If you think you could be of help, please e-mail and let me know. It would also be helpful to know a bit about your background.

Thanks for your consideration! I would be willing to co-author with the right person.
Peace,
Yael
