View Full Version : How Long Does It Take Your To Read A Screenplay
I was wondering how long it takes someone to read a screenplay. You know compared to a book. It doesn't take me very long to read it.

Obviously, it all depends how fast a person can read and comprehend. I know people who will read a 110-page screenplay in about 45 minutes. Some people can take a couple hours (in one sitting) or more. But in general, in one sitting, probably about 90 minutes is average.

120 page script about 100 minutes. If I'm giving notes, then about 2 and half to 4 hours.

I read them far too fast.
I enjoy reading screenplays. That is my problem. I want to study the screenplay as I read it: Learn something, master a new technique, study how an effect was created.
Suddenly I've finished the script. I can view it in my head, whether I've ever seen the movie or not, but for the life of me I can't remember how the writer handled this or that or something else.
I've tried reading scripts the second or third time -- It doesn't help -- I forget I'm there to study.
So I've read one more script without learning a single thing.
