Hi,

Is there a standard convention to use in sample chapter(s) to depict or denote where and what 'inserts', 'sidebars' or 'facing page' illustrations would look like?

I can clearly visualize the finished product yet, in the sample chapter format of double spacing I am troubled by how to represent the insert commentary.

Tips appreciated.

Hi there,
don't worry about what you envision the finished product to look like. It's pretty unlikely that your vision of the book and the finished version will look all that much alike (in terms of illustrations, graphics, etc.). If you have sidebars and charts, just indicate where in text they would fit best. For sidebars, you can add them into text, indicating that it's a sidebar (do something like [Sidebar: Title] text of sidebar [End sidebar.]
