Jack I don't want to get you spilling coffee or anything or wrecking the car or anything. But everyone knows what a weekend read means. Just CALM DOWN.

And don;t get too wiorked up by Monday. Even if it IS a weekend read, she might not finish it over the weekend. Agents DO have lives, yanno.

Guys, from what I think that said, a weekend read could mean a quicker response from the agent. Is this true?

From what I’ve learned here, agents general don’t reply to requested material until weeks, maybe months later.
But what about if they requested is with what seemed to be a great deal of interest and needed it before the weekend? What then?
Now that said weekend is over, should I expect a quicker response? Can I email a question, wondering how it’s going? Her request DID state that if I had any questions, feel free to email or call (I would never call. That is big time wrong… isn’t it?).

I do want to state that I’m not expecting overnight miracles. She has a life and that manuscript is 450 pages. I couldn’t read it in that short period of time.

I just need to know, from the strong forum of tried and tested people here, just what IS a weekend read, what does it mean on the agent end and what does it mean in regards to my rights to check in without spoiling the whole thing with my impatience?

Thanks guys.

Leave the agent alone. You may email her three months from now if you havent heard from her yet. Go back to work on your next manuscript. Patience, grasshopper. She has 100's of queries to work through, probably 20 partials and that many fulls as well. She'll get to you eventually. Not what you wanted to hear, but that's the way it is. Publishing seems to be a lot like the movie business. Hurry up and wait.

You are working on your next one, right? Cause you know that's what Uncle Jim's gonna say.

I had an agent very interested in my novel. I was lost in revisions and a new baby and didn't realize how much time had passed. The agent contacted me with a "are you gonna send it or should I scrap your file" message. I replied quickly that I would be sending it soon. Once I did I waited... are you ready... for over eight months for her to respond. Starting with my original query the entire process took over a year.

I'd say give the agent time... at least 6 weeks, if not more. Find something else to work on and really be patient.
