Synopsis Length

If an agent asks for a synopsis, not saying short synopsis or specifying length, is four pages, single spaced, a decent size or is that too long? Even if they don't say short synopsis, should I keep it short, one to two pages?

2-5 pages would be fine, the shorter the better

If you're not certain, drop the agent a note and ask if they have a preference.

I'd always been told 2-5, but when I asked the agent who's looking at my partial, they said as long as it was under 10 pages, they were cool with that. I always figure it's best to ask and maybe seem a little green than to send something inappropriate.
