Hey all,

There may be a better place for this, but I don't know one, so....
To my knowledge there are relatively few pro markets that one can submit a fantasy short story to.

Baen's Universal Slush
Clarkesworld Magazine
Fantasy and Science Fiction
Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show
Polyphony
Realms of Fantasy
Strange Horizons

...What am I missing? Surely there are more markets? (Help?)

Semi-pro places I'm aware of include

Aberrant Dreams
Black Gate
Fantasy Magazine
GUD Magazine
Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet

I've been trying to compile a list from Ralan, and Duotrope, and Quintamid; but much of what is listed on Ralan is only SF, and many pro markets that take fantasy seem to have closed shop or something.
So.

I think Aeion (sic?) pays semi-pro rates. But they're not accepting unsolicited right now...

Thanks all!

I will compile links from thoughts on this thread in a day or two.

Will Asimov's actually take Fantasy out of the slush pile?
Interzone claims at least that they only want SF.

And yeah, Aeon doesn't want unsolicited material at all. Argh.

Hconn and dragonax, do you know anything about what the places you mentioned are looking for, beyond what's on their webpages (which I c'n just look up...)?

For Asimov's SF, I haven't read an issue in a couple years, but they have always published fantasy. It's not the usual faux-medieval fantasy that people like to read at novel length, but they definitely take fantasy.

I used to have a pretty good idea what they were looking for, but they have a new editor now. Best to grab a couple issues from the library.
