Harold Crick.
Will Ferrel is Harold Crick, and he's hearing voices. Specifically, a woman's voice. The same voice all the time, like a running commentary on his life.

He finally figures out that the voice in his head is that of a writer, played by Emma Thompson, and that what Harold is really hearing is the book she's writing - her narration. Kind of like that John Candy movie Delirious, but...not.

The trailer seems to have some distincly writerly-humor.

I like Will, and adore Emma. How many writers will go out to and see this? I can see it will amuse me, because I almost always hear that voice in my head when I'm writing, and the concept of it affecting some real person's life amuses me.

Just saw the preview of it! It's called "Stranger Than Fiction" and apparently Will Farrell is the character in Emma's novel. He figures this out, then discovers that she plans to kill him, so he's trying to get through to her to try and convince her not to kill him off. Looks like a real treat!

I want to see it, too. And I think this is one my husband and I can both enjoy, since he likes Will Ferrell. He dragged me to see Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, which, I will admit, had some funny scenes.

Husband dragged me to this. I fully expected to be bored out of my mind and perhaps snicker once or twice. The scenes with the "cocaine" taped to the bottom of the car, and the cougar... I was laughing my butt off! I'm not really a WF fan, but that really was a funny movie.

This is definitely on the "See This Movie" list. My wife is pretty excited about seeing it, too.

I'm in. Instead of a book club critique, we will have to start a thread and discuss the movie when it comes out (or dig this thread out of the stack and add on).

What other movies are you dying to see? I want to see the one with Ben Stiller that takes place in the Museum at night. It looks hilarious. Anyone know if it's based on a book?

Don't know.

Best book about hiding in a museum - From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

Movie wasn't bad either. This was a favorite of mine growing up, along with The Westing Game.

I'm thinking I have to get new copies, since I don't know where my old ones went. I've already replaced almost all my treasured Roald Dahl books.

I need a bigger bookcase. Or a new room just for books. That thing, you know, oh, what is it? A library, yes, that's it. I need to build myself a library.

Best line from the trailer:

Will: "I need to see her. I'm one of her characters."

Receptionist: "I see."

Will: "And she's trying to kill me."

I really want to see this movie, too.

And, the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler was one of my favorite books as a child. I've never seen the movie, though.

I'm definitely going to see it--I think it'll be funny. But I know I'll be playing Count the Writer Cliches the whole time. You can pick out some in the trailer, like the writer using a typewriter.
