Not blogs (don't get me wrong I have nothing against blogs but I am looking for something more specific). I eventually plan to make a website for myself to advertise the wonderfulness that is me, and was wondering if anyone had any favourites they could mention. Also a short reason why they like the site so much would be great too. (Look at me, I shoulda been in market research).

** apologies if this is in the wrong place **

Jonathan Carroll's got a marvelous web-site, although he could use a slightly larger type font. As for why it's interesting...I have no idea, honestly. I just like the look of the place. Lemony Snicket's site is also cute, and I enjoy Neil Gaiman's web-site apart from the blog, especially for the antique web-sites that are hosted there for things like American Gods and Neverwhere.

I can't remember the author, but it's one of Kristin Nelson's clients, and the book is called CHEATING AT SOLITAIRE. Brilliant web site.

Oh, CHEATING AT SOLITARE is by Ally Carter. She's also the author of the young adult novel, I'D TELL YOU I'D LOVE YOU, BUT THEN I'D HAVE TO KILL YOU. Meg Cabot also has a nice website!

Jasper Fforde's website is superb - pretty extensive, though, might be a bit much if you're doing it yourself.

He has book specific pages that you can only access if you've read the book (or know the password). I think it's pretty cool, but I'm easily pleased. :)

By the way, you might want to get the mods to fix it, you spelled "favourite" wrong in your subject bar. You put "tie" at the end and you put an "our" in the middle. Don't worry though, I see that all the time. There's some folk who do "neighbour" and "honour" and "colour" without knowing any better.

That's what I'm here to help for, though.

Hey, watch it! There are a few Canucks and Brits around here. We like our longer spellings. LOL!

A couple of author sites I go to sometimes are...
www.david-baldacci.com
http://www.annemccaffrey.net/

I like to check for new releases and other information. These two sites are fairly complete.

Just because I happen to have written in another country and got chided for my spelling I will also add that many countries aside from us spell things like color and behavior and honor ...as colour and behaviour and honour. It is kind of the Pommie thing to do :D

You mean, people write differently outside America?

....you mean people actually live outside America??

But...but we have Toby Keith! And toadburgers! And...and...Homies! And....stuff! And people keep putting pieces of paper in my window telling me what a great country we are! And my sarcasm's falling apart!

(we do all know I was joking with complaining about the spelling, don't we? I mean, Storyteller5 got the joke...and he's Canadian!) :D

I knew you were joking, PeeDee. I just thought I'd wave the flag for my little country which always gets FORGOTTEN about when people start talking about so-called British/Australian/Canadian spelling.
And hey, aren't you up reeeellly late there? It's 7.38 am here, so it must be the middle of the night there.

So tell me, what is the facination with an author's website? I only go to authors I like to find out simply what other books they have written and if they're still available (something I can probably do better at Amazon). Otherwise, I don't really surf their pages and read everything about them. I guess I just don't care about their personal lives, how many kids or dogs they have, and what's their favorite fruit.
