Oh me amores! :Hug2:

I can smell it. :hat:

If it weren't for my day job, I could finish this my first attempt at erotic tonight! Alas, the story will probably be done by the end of the week- I hope! And! It looks like it's going to be just about 30k!

:thankyou: ;)

So, naturally there's all the editing and chapter summaries yadda yadda, but, can I post my raw footage? I know its not considered published if it is under lock and key so to speak like here in the forum, but I thought about putting the first 3 chapters in a folder on my yahoo group as well.

But of course, there is no kinky in the first 3 chapters!

I know, I know. I'll get cracking! :whip:

Well, let me be the first to say woo hoo, Kristin!

At least three chapters to get to the juicy stuff? A slow burner, eh?

I personally would not post my work on a public forum. Just one writer's opinion, but I'd say better to keep it "under lock and key" while you shop it around for a publisher.

In any event, keep up the good work!

YOu just got to love it when an erotica writer says: "99% there" :D

Get to the 100% .... dont stop until you see the end of the tracks...that is an order....(maybe a little D/s will help!)

I'm doing revisions to an erotic-romance novella that will be about 40K - 45K when it's done, and I've been struggling to get the first 50 pages down to about half that length, because they are extremely tame -- could easily be posted here as GP-rated, through about page 50, and then there's a sharp turn into non-GP-rated. Cutting it further isn't going to happen, so I'm trying to resign myself to the facts. For me, personally, I don't care about the sex until I care about the characters, so that's how I structure my stories.

Some authors do start right in with the steamy stuff, and others build to it. Just make sure there are hints of the sexual aspects of the plot in the first pages, because readers will want to be reassured that if they keep going, they'll get to the steam.

There is a range. Generally early+often sex sells better but a lot of my stories have sex scenes only sporadically as that plot requires. I must admot that now when I am writing specifically for the erotic romance pubs I tend to choose a plot that has more sex potential than I might otherwise write.

I agree. I posted a story of mine on a popular reading writing website, and witnessed it in the book of an ex-member. Yep, he went on and on in his review of my story, about my lack of structure, and even offered to edit it. I politely told him no, and I thought that was that. I later found the title of my story, and the exact way the story was told, in his book he published some time afterwards. I came across his book at a publishers website, that I belonged to. So, don't put your best work out on the web for free, you wouldn't believe how desperate some people can be.

The mud hole in the middle of Margins
Vineland South Jersey?
Nearly got arrested for just being in the same room as a polka playing accordianist.
Vineland is enought to drive someone to Goth.
Isn't there an old church in that town Liberty something about a hundred years old and more secret rooms and passages then the Winchester Mystery House.
Have about ten generations of ancestors buried up the road from Vineland around an old country church. Sometimes think of moving there but then I remember summer sucks.

You can get away with no sex early on, but the plot has to support it.

My most extreme example is the 25,000 word novella which has no sex at all, just some UST, in the first half, and then goes into D/s, multiple partner sex, and the scene that Loose ID asked me to tone down because it was too much even for them -- and yes, it's a love story. :)
