Location
Texas. It's like a whole 'nother country.
But I thought I would share. Just found this article:

http://www.astronautix.com/articles/probirth.htm

It's a discussion of the Orion project, a nuclear pulse-drive launch vehicle theorized, and apparently nearly prototyped, in the 60s. I remember a similar vehicle from Niven and Pournelle's Footfall several years ago. The article seems to favor resurrecting the project for solar system exploration. I thought there might be a story in there for somebody.

Have a good one!

I was talking to someone about the Orion project just the other week. The really big version was imagined as being 400 meters wide, and weighing 8 million tons. And that was in the late 50's. Cool stuff. I'm planning on using one in a short story soon, if just for the retro feel.
