. . . remember the title of a book (probably because I listened to it on tape.) I was hoping someone here may have read it. It is a literary novel about four friends (three boys and one girl) and one of the boys is gay. This pretty much tears the whole group apart in high school and leads to some violence between the boys based on prejudice. The gay guy is the main character and one of the other guys' name is Greg, I think.
The gay guy goes on to fall in love with a guy who is eventually killed in a hate bombing of the bar he worked at and near the end the guy falls in love with someone else but one of the boys in his group of four comes back to kill him. The girl from the foursome resurrects her loyalty and comes to help him and then there's a big family twist at the end.
It's a beautiful novel that I listened to in one day because the words just sang. I made the mistake of returning it to the library without writing down the title and haven't been able to find it since. Anybody recognize this plot? Read it? Liked it? Have a title? Please!!!!!:)

Thanks a lot!

Could it be A Density of Souls, by Christopher Rice?
I believe that's correct. A gay bar is bombed in that book.

I think they do not, becuase they don't want to fight the government's requests for these records.

Well, they have to keep such records for a reasonable time, or they wouldn't have a clue who has all the books checked out.
