I've recently come to the conclusion that my first novel isn't salable. I still like it for what it is, but I've given up on trying to sell it. But it's not like I've been discouraged by rejection. I just didn't know anything when I wrote it and knowing what I know now, I wouldn't want anyone to read it.
Has anyone else come to a similar realization about their first novel? Is it very common for successful writers to write garbage at first, or do the good ones write marketable material from the get go?
