City Mouse is always bragging, to his cousin Country Mouse, how much better his life is. Country Mouse, tired of his boring life in the country, sets off to live in the Big City with his cousin. Once there he finds that apperances can be deceiving.

One day, a little bunny makes a desperate dash for freedom in hopes of out running Mother Bunny's controlling ways. Runaway Bunny is the story of how Mother Bunny relentlessly stalks him and brainwashes him into returning to her clutches. :D That was fun.

But... but... I *love* the little bunnies. I like the one about the "I love you to the moon and back" too. Am I going to be scarring my future children for life here? :D

Boy I hope not. I just chose that because it's my absolute favorite book. My kids, being mine, are probably already a little warped anyway. My 5yo is addicted to the SciFi Channel. He loves those horrible movies: Mansquito! Sabertooth! Mammoth! *sighs*

If you give a mouse a cookie shows how we are all trying to get a head and end up right back where we started.
When a cute cuddly mouse asks his young friend for something as simple as a cookie, the boy had no idea what horrors would lay ahead or how he would become the helpless slave of such an innocent looking creature.

I'm a screenwriter by trade, but I'd love to expand into children's picture books. I don't have a clue as to how to do that.

I have a children's picture book written, but not the first clue as to do what to do next.

A. Does anyone have a sample query for a children's picture book?
B. Where in the world do you send these queries?
C. What format do you send the picture book in? I just have it written but if someone said they wanted to read it, what is supposed to look like without pictures in there? Is there binding on it if you send a hardcopy?

I need major help on the whole thing!!

OR just point me in the right direction? Is there a book that explains all of this?

Thank you.

yes Billy. That's the easy answer there is help. Yes, there is a book, several in fact...but answering that here..takes us off thread LMAO.

Yes, I and several others have sample queries for PB's, in the share your work thread under query letter..I have one atm(at the moment).

You send these to agents that rep PB's or to a publishing house that accepts unagented work(cause I can't spell).

Some only want snail mail, some accept e-mail..just like for "big people books"

I'm still learning but happy to share the little bit of knowledge I have gleened :)

You clone you lol

What she said. And your ms looks like any other. Courier. Double space. Wide magins. Left justify. Unbound.

The good news is that the query isn't quite as important , because you usually send the ms with it. They are short enough that it is just like sending a writing sample.

Thank you and Thank you.

Two final questions.

A. Where or what book lists all the agents or publishing houses that accept queries and/or manuscripts?

B. You send the letter and manuscript in unsolicited? They let you do that?
Good agents and publishing houses that I would actually want to have involved let you do that?

Thank you again.

A) agentquery.com or P&E are just some sugestions.
B) Yes, yes and yes

You owe me a query :D

The Little Red Hen:

The argument for social reform has never been made so eloquently as by a little red hen. No work. No food. Others try to sponge off her work, but our plucky little clucky stands firm in her quest for sweat based equity in life.

When little bunny in striped pajamas says goodnight to everything in his room and goodnight to everything in the world he knows, the reader is left with one poignant question: Will bunny be alive to say "Good morning, Sun"? Or will the little old lady's "hush" permanently silence the bunny?

What would you do if you were being stalked by a cat in a hat. Even worse, what if he came back. Come with me into the nightmare of two children who find themselves answering this question one day when their mother is out. The cat isn't alone either, he brings henchmen Thing A and Thing B with him. As our brave little heros strive to understand in a world that is beyond understanding, they will learn stuff about themselves and yanno, life in general.

The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. This time it's personal.
