Looking for Writing Partner - Children's Fantasy
Hi All,
I’m looking for a writing partner to collaborate with me on children’s fantasy story. I’ve got the basic concept and a few of the characters sketched out so far. Since this is not a genre I’ve ever written in, I thought I might try what is often done in the film/TV world and look for a writing partner.
My strengths tend towards the editorial side (I actually love revising; can you believe it?!) and I’m best at character, dialogue and story structure. This means that I’m looking for a writing partner who can compliment those strengths. I think my ideal writing partner would be a fast writer with fairly strong plotting skills (someone who’s good at knocking out the first draft of a scene) and who’s also a great brainstormer. Essentially, I'd like to work with someone who loves writing and HATES revising, someone who can get our ideas on the page, even in a very, very rough form.
This would be a 50/50 partnership and only something to pursue if we find ourselves truly compatible. Having worked in film, I know the benefits, and the pitfalls, of these types of partnerships. Regardless, I’m willing to give it a go. And although the best of these types of arrangements stem from pre-existing relationships, I do think that--with the right mindset--something like this can be embarked upon by like-minded writers who are compatible, hard-working, honest, and serious about getting published.
