I don't mind as long as it suits the story/reinforces the underlying message. I'm definitely not someone who always wants a happy ending - in fact, I often get frustrated because they can be too idealised.
same as above: I like endings that suit the story.
I don't like it when people just make things depressing for no good reason (as certain famous TV show creators who shall remain nameless are fond of doing), but a happy ending the story didn't earn is just as bad as a sad one it didn't deserve.
Well, happy is as happy does. I enjoy serials and I'd prefer seeing the MC come through in the end. By that I mean, at least he doesn't die. If something unhappy happens other than that, as long as it's a good ending, that's fine.
I think I prefer sad endings. I'm morbid that way. As a child I would read sad stories about dying animals and sob and sob, and that was my idea of a good time.
Although I agree with above posters who say that a satisfying ending is best, even if it's a good one.
