Referencing Similar books in my query

I posted my query in SYW and it improved dramatically, but my problem is what to liken my novel to. It's a religious satire and the humor and writing style are similar to a Stephanie Plum novel, but it's not a mystery and it explores religious themes. To me, it's in a vein similar to "A Confederacy of Dunces" with the quirky characters who are all self-delusional, but I know that's an older book and agents want a contemporary comparison. I thought of Christopher Moore, because he's satirical, but I'm not poking fun at faith so much as the actions of the faithful. Any suggestions?
