Don't know if this is the right place, but does anyone know of a list or database of UK magazines that accept short stories? All the ones I come across seem to be for the US.

Thanks

There's a good thread on the boards somewhere with lots of detail, but I can't for the life of me remember where it is.
I think ArrowQueen started it, she's our resident UK mag writer round these parts.

If you are looking in AQ, I got another 2 rejections from Norah this week. She's on my Christmas card list now:tongue

What're you writing? If it's genre stuff - horror, SF, then there are very few markets: interzone, Third Alternative, and Dark Tales (A pretty poor magazine, IMHO, as you have to pay to enter.) and one called The Forgotten. There's also some genre stuff by Pigasus press. It's not the thriving scene it once was, with great stuff like "Peeping Tom" and "Xenos"

Don't forget Midnight Street. A story from there got picked up by Ellen Datlow for the Year's Best collection

Mainly YA, but i'll write anything if i think i might get paid for it. I've come across lots of american mags but i'm just finished college and haven't started work yet so the postage costs are a little restrictive. But they do seem to pay more.
